Swiv!

Lisa Solberg is an artist residing in downtown Los Angeles.  Currently 25 years old, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Art with emphasis in painting and digital art at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Lisa has lived in Chicago & Germany and has traveled extensively around the globe.  

“Part celebrated painter, part glamazon, part hybrid-child, Lisa’s visions of lions, tigers, stripped stripes, radical women and controlled streaks take over the canvas in a street expressionist manner. Calling on doodling style from years past, the canvas pulsates with faithful truth of an innocent coupled with the wild imagination of a fortunate genius. Lisa studied with a graffiti artist in Germany for one year, exposing her to the loss of translation, beautiful chaos and the epitomy of scandalous beauty. Numbers, writing backwards, paintings to be viewed with 3-D glasses are part of Solberg’s quest for absolute truth. Like a good sentence, every stroke in a Solberg paintings contains unreserved meaning. Wise beyond her years, a Solberg canvas can be viewed as a vessel of popular culture of the past 3 decades.”

Her current show, “I SPY YING YANG”, is on view at Swiv Tackle Circus Gallery in Oceanside. Upcoming shows include a solo exhibit at Kinsey/DesForges Gallery in Los Angeles on October 11th and a two person show at Holster Projects in London on November 12, of this year.
